About
HTFR
Humuriza Tamar Foundation is a Christian non-profit organization founded in 2017 in Rwanda, dedicated to supporting young mothers, children, and climate resilience.
Our History & Background
Based on the story of Tamar in the Bible (2 Samuel 13:1-19), Tamar was raped in the presence of many, but no one could help or advocate for her, as it was considered none of their business. Left alone in that shameful and difficult situation, she had no comfort or accompaniment.
HTFR started against this background to comfort young mothers who are victims of rape and gender-based violence, alongside their children who are often even more vulnerable than their mothers.
Over the years, our mission expanded to support street children, children of single mothers, and households headed by young women, with a focus on community transformation and ecological conservation.

Key Achievements
SRHR & Rights Education
Trained 200 single mothers and 20 volunteers on sexual reproductive health and rights, and children's rights to empower advocacy.
Vocational Skills Showcase
Supported 200 mothers to learn soap & body lotion production, plus 'BE CONFIDENT' reusable sanitary pads and diapers.
Direct Children's Support
Provided crucial school supplies and sanitation materials to 300 children to prevent school dropouts.
Saturday & Holiday Programs
Hosted recurring weekend feeding and learning activities to boost children's skills, health, and confidence.
Our Challenges
Limited Financial Resources
HTFR currently relies solely on the founder and her family's financing. We seek partnerships to expand our outreach.
Volunteer Staff Only
We run projects exclusively with dedicated volunteers, lacking the capacity to hire permanent operational staff.
Trauma and Family Rejection
Our beneficiaries face severe family and community exclusion due to cultural stigmas surrounding rape.
Survivors of Sexual Violence
Most of our young mother beneficiaries are survivors of sexual violence, requiring critical mental health support.
Hopelessness in Vulnerable Children
Children born of single mothers deal with deep identity crises, asking about their fathers and feeling rejected.
