HUMURIZA TAMAR FOUNDATION Empowers Children in Muhanga Through Its “Rabbit per Child” Initiative
Through this initiative, 130 children from nursery and primary schools received rabbits, while children in secondary school were provided with pigs to support their livelihoods and contribute to their families' economic development.
HUMURIZA TAMAR FOUNDATION (HTF) continues to demonstrate its commitment to improving children's well-being and strengthening vulnerable families through its “Rabbit per Child” initiative, an activity designed to support children's livelihoods while promoting education, positive parenting, and family well-being.
The initiative aims to create opportunities for children and their families to improve their living conditions and build a more sustainable future. By providing these animals, HUMURIZA TAMAR FOUNDATION seeks to encourage families to engage in small-scale livestock farming, which can become a source of income and help meet essential household needs, including children's education.
Empowering Children and Parents Through Education
Beyond providing livestock, HUMURIZA TAMAR FOUNDATION recognizes that supporting children requires creating a safe, loving, and encouraging environment where they can learn, grow, and reach their full potential.
As part of the activity, children and their parents participated in training sessions covering important topics related to child development, family relationships, and academic success.
The training focused on children's rights, helping children and parents better understand the importance of protecting children's dignity, safety, and well-being. Participants also learned about stress management, including the importance of managing emotions and developing healthy ways to respond to everyday challenges.
Building Stronger Families and Brighter Futures
HUMURIZA TAMAR FOUNDATION believes that investing in children goes beyond meeting their immediate material needs. It also means equipping them with the knowledge, values, and emotional support necessary to become responsible, confident, and productive members of society.
By combining livestock support with training on children's rights, stress management, academic discipline, and positive parenting, the foundation seeks to address both the economic and social factors that influence children's development.
The initiative also encourages parents to take an active role in their children's education and personal growth, recognizing that cooperation between families, schools, and the wider community is essential to helping children thrive.
A Commitment to Sustainable Development
Through the “Rabbit per Child” initiative and its broader efforts to support children and vulnerable families, HUMURIZA TAMAR FOUNDATION remains committed to promoting sustainable livelihoods, strengthening family relationships, and creating opportunities for children to build a better future.
The foundation believes that every child deserves the opportunity to grow in a supportive environment, access education, develop their potential, and live with dignity and hope.
By empowering children today and supporting the families who care for them, HUMURIZA TAMAR FOUNDATION continues to invest in a stronger, healthier, and more sustainable future for communities in Muhanga District.
